ABOUT US

The Love Quilt Project builds relationships between South African and American children in foster care through education that teaches kindness, tolerance, and compassion to both groups. The children express what they have learned by drawing messages of love on small fabric squares that are stitched into quilts and distributed to individual children in South Africa’s hardest hit communities and to American children living in poverty many of whom have been affected by HIV/AIDS. The children who receive a Love Quilt are not only wrapped with the warmth of the blanket but also feel the support through the beautiful messages that have been stitched into their quilt. This psychological “hug” that the child feels knowing this quilt is only for them is priceless.

For each South African child who receives a quilt, a donation is made to help support their primary school education needs. Giving a South African child the emotional support of their Love quilt and providing the necessary education fees are both critical to accomplishing the mission of LQP.

Serving Hope will celebrate the thousands of children we have reached while raising the necessary funds to provide the programs to more vulnerable American and South African children.
